Arc now uses the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary to suggest target pronunciations in IPA. These appear alongside the words in the transcript, providing a starting point for comparing target pronunciations with the speaker’s production during phonological analysis.
A starting point for target pronunciations
The dictionary supplies pronunciations for a much broader vocabulary than the fixed set prepared for the prototype’s sample. Suggested pronunciations can be edited, and IPA can be entered by hand for words outside the dictionary.

Target and production side by side
The target pronunciation and the transcription of what the speaker actually said have separate editable fields beneath each word. An IPA symbol palette supports entering and correcting the transcriptions.
The dictionary supplies the target suggestion; the produced transcription records what is heard in the sample. Keeping both alongside the word supports reviewing the comparison used for percentage of consonants correct (PCC).
