Where Arc is headed

Arc is being developed to connect the work of speech and language sampling, from a recording to a reviewed transcript, analysis, and a report. The next step is an alpha with SLPs, whose experience will help shape the product.

Now: building toward the alpha

Arc is in pre-alpha. Development centers on reviewing an automatic transcript alongside the recording, correcting the words and annotations, and using that work for speech and language analysis.

Alongside the editing and analysis tools, preparation for the alpha includes saving and returning to samples, access to the app online, and appropriate handling of recordings and transcripts. The What’s new entries show the product work in more detail.

What the alpha is intended to support

The planned workflow includes:

  • Reviewing and editing a transcript with the recording alongside it.
  • Analyzing a sample using SUGAR language measures, percentage of consonants correct (PCC), or both, and bringing the results into a report.
  • Saving unfinished work and returning to it later.

An earlier starting point focused on transcription is also being considered. Interest from SLPs in transcription alone and in the wider analysis and reporting workflow will help inform the scope of initial access.

The alpha is intended for clinical use. Preparations include the data-handling arrangements and agreements needed before identifiable samples can be used.

Shaping what comes next

Feedback from early use will help identify where the workflow is useful and where it needs further work. That experience will guide improvements and the decisions about a wider release and a paid offering.

You have two hands. Fair enough.

Arc is being built to bring your recording, transcript, analysis, and report into one workspace. No extra arms required.
